Drink Local: Neighborhood Bars, Breweries And Wineries Need Our Support

Bars, breweries and wineries have been deemed essential allowing brewers to continue making the craft beer we all love and just like our favorite cafes and restaurants, our local beer parlors need our help too.

In the last few months, breweries have found ways to stay open and active. Some have moved away from taproom sales and shifted to packaged beer sales, curbside pickup and delivery service, while others have teamed up with food trucks allowing them to sell alcohol with food orders.

Many of our favorite hangout spots are depending on us for survival. Show your support by dining al fresco or ordering takeout, and make sure to add a pint or two of your favorite IPA. Here is a list of locally owned bars you should order from to support your community’s economy:

Bars:

Camden Spit and Larder

“We ordered curbside dinner and it was amazing! $50 for homemade chicken pot pie, creamy mashed potatoes, asparagus and chocolate chip cookies. I highly recommend their takeout and check out their weekly specials.” – Deb L. from Davis, CA (Yelp)

Ideal Bar & Grill

“Situated between the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk and the Santa Cruz Pier, this place has a great view and vibe right next to the ocean and the main beach. Is there such a thing as a better location than this? The food is great, the atmosphere is amazing and the service is excellent. It’s one of my go-tos in Downtown Santa Cruz.” – Brandon P. from Concord, CA (Yelp)

The Elbow Room

“In these times with uncertainty over all the COVID-19 stuff, restaurants opening and closing, this place felt really comfortable and safe. Lots of outdoor patio dining in a relaxing environment away from the elements. The food was off the hook as well as the service. They were spot on, very timely and our server was very friendly and helpful with recommendations. I definitely recommend this place, especially in these times.” – Brian G. from San Francisco (Yelp)

 The Slip Bar and Eatery

“This place was really cute. I quite enjoyed everything about it, from the atmosphere to the location and then the great food. The staff was really nice and friendly, and had some great recommendations on different things to try and sample. I ended up with the garden burger and that was simply delicious. Great vibe! You can’t go wrong here!” – Joshua M. from Kingwood, TX (Yelp)

Tiger Bar and Food Hall

“The new menu makes Tiger a fantastic lunch or dinner spot and I heard they are adding weekend brunch. I could eat their mix and match taco plates daily and the fresh tableside guacamole is a must. The nachos and totchos are also delicious!

They have a gorgeous interior with comfortable seating plus an outdoor patio on the K Street corridor right by Golden 1 Center. They are locally owned and nestled directly between a local brewery and local winery. We will be back soon!” – Chris R. from West Sacramento, CA (Yelp)

Two60 Kitchen & Bar

“My husband and I have dined in and ordered take away twice now and each time the food and service has been so amazing. They really have adapted to all of the COVID-19 restrictions and guidelines, and it seems like everyone that is working is in such high spirits.” – Rachel L. from Paso Robles, CA (Yelp)

 Six Rivers Brewery

“The brew with a view! I love this spot. Owned by two amazing women, this awesome brewery is a lively community bar and delicious restaurant rolled into one! They often have live music and events so follow them on social media to know what’s up. Personally, I love the Humboldt Honey Salad and their latest beer on tap!” – Amy B. from Arcata, CA (Yelp)

Track 7 – The Other Side Taproom & Restaurant

“The remarkable thing about The Other Side is the consistently excellent food. The menu isn’t huge, but they change things up frequently so it’s never dull. The salads are huge and always high quality. The sauces are really excellent. It’s a nice family place with plenty of things kids like to eat on the regular menu. The beers also rotate pretty frequently, so you get a chance to try something new and exciting. The service is excellent!” – Missus T. from Davis, CA (Yelp)

Urban Roots Brewery & Smokehouse

“The beer is amazing, the food is great and the staff is awesome! I can’t say enough good things about this brewery. As we are in the COVID-era, they are doing a great job of enforcing mask usage and social distancing guidelines.” – Amy D. from Modesto, CA (Yelp)

Pubs:

De Vere’s Irish Pub

“The ambiance is like an Irish Pub. This pub has authentic Irish food that is more than delicious. There is a good selection of ales on draft, but the obvious choice is the Guinness Stout! Pair that with a bowl of Irish stew served with traditional Irish bread and it’s heavenly! The service is excellent and the staff is very friendly.

This is a wonderful place to meet friends for a great time. There’s a library room in the back area with couch seating and board games available to extend the fun time. Check out the articles on the wall about the owner and inspiration for this pub. The important message here is that the food is truly amazing. If you love Irish inspired dishes, this is the place.” – Diane K. from Vacaville, CA (Yelp)

“The food for take-out is insanely delicious! Excellent comfort food that is well prepared and served in large portions!” – Lynn S. from Redondo Beach, CA (Yelp)

Wineries:

Bellanico Restaurant & Wine Bar

“This place has been consistently good and the food really is top-notch, well prepared, creative, tasty and nicely presented. We had the tasting menu and each course was a culinary experience. The pasta dishes are always very fresh. We also had the wines to pair with each dish and they were well coordinated. This restaurant is known for its wine list and it excels! The service is very friendly and this is the type of neighborhood restaurant we all wish for in our backyard. This restaurant is always consistently good, time and time again.” – Tom B. from Oakland, CA (Yelp)

 Revolution Winery & Kitchen

“Revolution has good food, good wine, friendly staff and a nice atmosphere with reasonable prices. One of the reasons we like Revolution is because they have an extensive vegan menu – vegan appetizers, main courses and a dessert with other gluten-free options. We usually do the wine flight tasting where you can try three different wines with dinner and get $5 off a bottle.” – RJ A. from Stockton, CA (Yelp)
